About Volunteer Manitoba

We support groups and individuals in the voluntary sector to develop and enhance their capacity to anticipate, understand, celebrate, and meet community needs in Manitoba. Our vital contributions to the community include connecting people with volunteer opportunities, promoting volunteerism, and providing leadership and counsel in the non-profit and voluntary sector.

Mission: Volunteer Manitoba promotes and recognizes volunteerism across the province, connects Manitobans, and builds capacity to meet community needs.

Vision: Volunteer Manitoba is the leading catalyst for engaging all Manitobans in volunteerism.

Volunteer Manitoba is located on the original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Volunteer Manitoba was established in 1978 when the United Way and the Winnipeg Foundation realized a need to support the voluntary sector and volunteerism in Manitoba as a separate agency.

Over the years, our programs, services and partnerships have dramatically expanded to help non-profit organizations and individuals to enhance their capacity to meet the needs of their communities.
